What is a Lightworker Empath

What is a Lightworker Empath? Are you one?

There’s a lot of overlap between the ideas of a Lightworker and an Empath. I’m not surprised that people use the term interchangeably but we need to be careful that we don’t confuse our divine path.

Empaths are humans with deeper insights into energies and emotions while Lightworkers are higher vibrational spiritual beings here to serve a deeper purpose.

For some, the differences might be minor and I really have no issue with what labels people choose to identify with. I highlight the difference because I don’t want Lightworkers feeling stuck without understanding their true purpose.

The Confusion Between Lightworkers and Empaths

While there are a lot of similarities between the two – Lightworkers and Empaths do have some differences.

An Empath is generally someone who is born with the natural ability to sense, feel and perceive beyond what a normal person does. They can see into people’s thoughts and emotions and often use these abilities to empathize and help those around them.

The world is certainly a better place for having empaths around us.

But they are not necessarily Lightworkers.

Lightworkers are incredibly rare beings of light and energy. They are souls from the third dimension (3D) and they have one incredibly important ability and purpose here on Earth.

They have a similar ability to sense and heal those around them but their powers and abilities tend to go… further. Different types of Lightworkers will help humanity in different ways but have their own divine purpose to aid humanity as a whole and as individuals.

Empaths will feel for others and go out of their way for them. Lightworkers will be drawn to help even when it goes against their own best interest or causes them stress.

Part of our training has to be focused on teaching Lightworkers to focus on their own self-care for exactly this reason.

I’m not trying to take away from the amazing work empaths do around the world every single day. Empaths light the world with their love and light and I’m so grateful for each and every one of them.

But we do need to be careful that we don’t confuse the definitions to the point that divine paths start to become lost. The important part is not what label you use or how you identify yourself… the important part is your actions. That you’re being true to yourself and your path.

The Empath Lightworker ‘Type’

We’ve tried to help people distinguish between the types of Lightworker and help them figure out their path on our Lightworker quiz however the world doesn’t always fit into neat boxes.

The Lightworker

Especially when you’re dealing with high vibrational energy beings. They often do their own things and buck trends.

So types do overlap. If a Lightworker identifies as an empath and chooses this route then it’s likely they’re doing the same work as a Healer Lightworker or Lightkeeper Lightworker anyway.

I have absolutely no issue with people who choose to use this label. The only reason I distinguish the difference at all is to make it easier for people who feel stuck and are trying to figure out their spiritual calling.

Can You Be an Empath AND a Lightworker?

At a definition level – no. But for all intents and purposes – yes.

Technically a Lightworker and an Empath are very different beings. An Empath is a human that can tap into a deeper level of understanding in others while a Lightworker is close to human but they stem from a higher vibrational dimension.

Their work here is the same but Lightworkers can have a more specific purpose (depending on their type) and are technically different beings.

THAT BEING SAID I have no doubt that many people who consider themselves to be an Empath are actually unawoken Lightworkers and no matter what type they are, there’s nothing an Empath can do that a Lightworker can’t.

Perhaps it is a distinction without a difference.

Common Traits and Differences

Similarities Between an Empath and a Lightworker

  • Both will often go out of their way for others.
  • Both will bring light and joy to those around and them and it is a blessing to have one as a part of your life.
  • They’ll both experience bursts of emotions from other people. Sometimes without rhyme or reason.
  • They can’t help but put themselves out for others.

The Differences Between a Lightworker and an Empath

lightworker and empath differences
  • While they are both rare, Lightworkers are much less common than an empath. They’re spirits that volunteered for this role before awakening on Earth.
  • Empaths are more likely to have some sort of support system in place. People they can rely on for help or advice. Lightworkers often feel that they need to manage their light and light work all by themselves.
  • Most empaths will describe lightworker energy as intense, chaotic and overwhelming while lightworkers will describe an empath’s light energy as friendly but easier to manage.
  • Lightworkers tend to be more stressed by taking on too much work.

Lightworkers are more focused on spiritual purpose and often have more specific tasks in mind while Empaths are more about the immediate energy and emotions in front of them.

Being either a Lightworker or an Empath is an important responsibility. This is far more than just something to put in your social media tag. It’s a divine role in the universe. A divine mission to further humanity.
